Cards for Kiva is operated by Jessica Tankersley & Kara Blain. We make and sell handmade greeting cards. 100% of our profits are loaned to entrepreneurs in developing countries through kiva.org. Our cards are available for purchase online as well as in retail shops located in Tulsa, OK. See SHOP for more details.
We began this project in November 2008 when some of our friends said they would pay money for our handmade greeting cards. We decided to take them up on their offer. But instead of pocketing the cash we decided to do something good with it. We believe the loans we help fund through kiva.org are a worthwhile investment. The individuals we invest in through kiva.org have applied for a loan to purchase assets for their new or growing business. These individuals are hard working entrepreneurs who are in need of resources to create a sustainable livelihood for themselves and their families. When we loan money through kiva.org it is paid back over a twelve month term, (or less). After a loan is paid back in full it is re-loaned to another entrepreneur.
